A Russian Su-27 fighter intercepted an American spy plane on the Black Sea. The incident happened on 25 last January, but the Department of Defense made it known just a few hours ago.

The RC-135U Combat Sent he was in international airspace on the Black Sea when - according to the Pentagon reconstruction - he was intercepted by a Su-27 Flanker.

According to the USA the interception would have taken place in an "unsafe and unprofessional" way.

The incident would also be discussed with the Russian counterpart, a few hours ago, during a joint focus on flight safety in Syria, considering that the two sides operate in the Region.

The Russian fighter would have approached less than twenty feet from the American spy plane.

It cannot be excluded that the Su-27 (whose equipment was not detected) has tested some ELINT capabilities (ELectronic signals INTelligence) of the American spy plane.
