Britain will provide 30 million dollars for the Lebanese army, largely to increase security along the border with Syria. This is confirmed by the British government.

In his first visit to Beirut as foreign minister, Philip Hammond announced that Britain will provide training for five thousand soldiers and equipment worth 5,7 million dollars. 24 million dollars will be allocated to training the Lebanese armed forces for a training and mentoring program that will be completed in the 2019. London plans to train eleven thousand Lebanese soldiers in urban anti-terrorism.

Lebanon is at the forefront of terrorism - they say from London - they have been fighting since the 2011 against armed groups and jihadist factions along the eastern border of the country. Since 2011, Britain has invested more 60 million dollars to support Lebanese security forces (official Foreign Office data).

The Lebanese army and security forces also receive military support from the United States and France (and other countries). Saudi Arabia has guaranteed military supplies for three billion dollars.
