The first hypersonic missiles could enter production in Russia within the next six years. As stated by Boris Obnosov, director general of Tactical Missile Systems Corporation at Ria Novosti during his visit to the Airshow which is taking place this week in China, it will end next Sunday.

According to Obnosov, the missiles will go into production before the 2020.

Obviously the difficulties are not lacking: we speak, in fact, of missiles with a peak speed of six / eight Mach with ramjet technology. Within 2030 - added Obnosov - we will have developed the technology necessary to create aircraft with a hypersonic speed. The first flight is scheduled within the 2040. The general manager of the Tactical Missile Systems Corporation has also clearly stated that the hypersonic missiles will equip the new generation PAK DA bombers that will enter service within the 2023. Russia has started the development of a new strategic bomber in the 2014. The project, set aside for several years and known as PAK-DA (Russian acronym for "future long-range aircraft"), received the green light from the Russian leadership only a few months ago. According to the Russian media, citing sources from the Ministry of Defense, the Tupolev company will develop the PAK-DA. The Russian engineers would be aiming for a subsonic plane in the shape of a "flying wing", which would guarantee superior "stealth capacity". The PAK-DA, according to the Ministry of Defense's directives, must be equipped with advanced systems for electronic warfare and armed with the new long-range cruise missiles, in addition to a variety of conventional high-precision weapons. The new bomber will go into production within the 2023 and will most likely be built at a new aircraft assembly line in the Kazan plant. The PAK-DA will replace the current Russian strategic fleet consisting of 63 Tupolev Tu-95MS Bear and 13 Tu -160 Blackjack.
