After the Paris attacks, the Italian government has promised an allocation of 1 billion euros for Security. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi announced the move on November 24th. Emotional or not, we'll understand shortly.

According to what was announced by the prime minister, 500 million would have been invested in defense. 150 million euros on information technology and another 350 million for the country's police forces.

Comment today in the foreign press. “No further details have been provided on those extra 500 million euros announced for the Defense, the Italian government has not yet resolved to do so. In the meantime, the armed forces are carefully watching the government's future moves, in the hope that the latter will be faithful to its word ”.

They add from DefenseNews. “In the meantime, that money will have to be allocated. Then we must consider that 140 of the 500 million euros announced for the Defense, should be used to adjust the salaries of Italian soldiers by 80 euros a month. € 360 million would remain which should be used for army maintenance and operations and to finance one or two refresher programs. Those extra funds would be really necessary, in order to guarantee economic and logistical support for missions abroad ".

Da DefenseNews they speak of cases in which there was a lack of fuel availability for Italian troops abroad. The Italian expenditure allocated for 2015 to guarantee the army "maintenance and operations" (M&O) is 1,15 billion euros. The salary ceiling for soldiers is € 9,67 billion.

They continue from DefenseNews - quoting a military analyst who asked for anonymity - "They need at least another 3 billion euros to get by. Those defense cuts will have devastating repercussions. The first to be hit will be the aviation, which already has serious problems in '' buy spare parts for the C-130J and C-27J fleet. A sort of cannibalization of old aircraft is already underway to ensure the operation of those in line. Without considering the extreme need to increase the protection of vehicles against the MANPADS and a better ability against NCB. Then there is Finmeccanica, looking for those 150 million euros promised by the government for information security ".

Under the magnifying glass the cyber center of Chieti (“close to universities, but far from cities”), the government's nerve center since 2013 for IT security and central coordination command of the country's critical infrastructures.
