Israel honors its own autistic soldiers

02/04/15

It is a chosen team. They are the best people operating within the 9900 ward (the IDF intelligence corps) and they are all autistic individuals. The name of the program is "Roim Rachok" which in Hebrew means "far beyond horizons".

The soldiers of the unit represent the best of the best. The Israeli army, always ready to praise its soldiers with a patriotic approach that in countries like Italy (wrongly) would be interpreted as fanaticism, in the world day dedicated to autism, praises the elements of the RR team.

Much of the information surrounding the unit is classified, but is considered one of the most specialized of the entire army.

All individuals suffer from autism, but have the ability to analyze and interpret satellite images as well as maps, better than any soldier not suffering from Kanner syndrome.

The subject suffering from autistic disorder has a marked decrease in socio-relational integration, but develops an impressive capacity in the field of music, mathematics and the visual field.

'RR' unit: "our extraordinary soldiers"

"The incredible skills of the elite group are essential for Israel. The eleven elements that make up the team are all volunteers. Their service among the ranks of the army lasts a year, but nine of them have already expressed the desire to extend their stay in the unit. The exceptional visual and analytical skills developed by the 'RR' soldiers are used by the 9900 department for intelligence purposes, proving to be a successful program ".
