Iraq: US sends more 500 soldiers. Mosul offensive between 20 days?

The United States has sent other 500 soldiers to Iraq to support the offensive to resume Mosul. This is what the Pentagon communicates.

Increased staff and equipment - reads the note - it is necessary to achieve the goal of the Iraqi government and recapture Mosul before the end of the year.

The operations could start within the first ten days of October.

The United States, considering shifts, now has 4460 soldiers in Iraq. The Pentagon estimates a force of 4500 Islamic State units in Mosul. Additional forces are part of 101a airborne division, 2nd brigade combat team of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The city of 2,5 millions of people is under the control of the Islamic State since June of the 2014.

The assault on Mosul, according to the plans discussed, will take place from two positions. Iraqi troops will attack Mosul from the south, while Kurdish troops from the north.
