The US Department of Defense has awarded an 81.27 million dollar contract to Boeing, in acquisition costs only, for the supply of 22 missiles Harpoon to the Indian Navy through the program Foreign Military Sales.

The anti-ship missiles will equip two class submarines Shishumar. The total contract package amounts to 200 million dollars and includes 22 UGM-84L Harpoon Block II, training, spare parts and complete logistic support for the missile system.

- Harpoon will be delivered by 2018. The supply is part of the upgrade program planned for two of the four diesel-electric class submarines Shishumar by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems at the Naval Dockyard, in Mumbai. India previously purchased 21 AGM-84L Block II for its fleet of eight Boeing P-8I Neptune. In the 2010 other 24 missiles Harpoon were purchased by India for the fleet Sepecat Jaguar, today almost entirely grounded awaiting updating.
