USS nuclear aircraft carriers Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) and Charles de Gaulle (R91) participated yesterday in the Mediterranean in interoperability exercises.

The opportunity allowed pilots of both navies to land and take off from the flight deck of the foreign ship. Two US pilots on Super Hornet F / A-18E and four French colleagues on Flurry it's one Hawkeye E-2C have carried out touch-and-go, landings and take-offs on each carrier. Furthermore, personnel and material were transferred from each other by helicopter.

It is not the first time that the two units operate together: the aircraft carriers have conducted joint operations in support of the operation Inherent Resolve from the Mediterranean Sea in 2016 (photo at the bottom).

"Operating with Charles de Gaulle in the Mediterranean is a fantastic representation of the interconnection between France and the United States. It was truly an honor to work together in the launch and recovery of our nation's aircraft on our respective carriers", said the commander of the Eisenhower, Kyle Higgins.

From Italians - e Much older allies than France (from 1966 to 2009 the transalpine armed forces were not part of NATO) - we hope to hear similar words of appreciation soon in similar exercises with the Navy's F-35Bs.
