Drone USA crashes in northern Syria

A drone MQ-9 Reaper ofUS Air Force crashed today in northern Syria.

"The aircraft was conducting a combat mission when control of the aircraft was lost. The crash of the remotely piloted aircraft was not due to enemy fire. There are no reports of injuries or civilian damage." - reports the official statement of the US Air Force.

"The MQ-9 was destroyed by coalition planes and did not end up in enemy hands," he added.

The Air Force undertook to convene a commission of inquiry to find out the causes of the accident.

Il Reaper, nicknamed "hunter-killer" for its ability to carry out both attack and surveillance missions, is the big brother of the MQ-1 Predator.

The MQ-9 is capable of flying up to 50.000 feet (over 15.000 meters) and up to 240 miles per hour (444 km / h). With a battery life of 27 hours it is twice as fast, with nine times the power as the MQ-1.
