Two French Rafales conducted the first reconnaissance flights over Syrian territory. The fighters flew over the Persian Gulf at dawn yesterday, according to the French defense ministry. France is already conducting air raids against ISIS in Iraq, in support of the US-led coalition, in the operation dubbed "Inherent Resolve".

Australia, Canada, the United States and Great Britain could soon be joined, according to a statement a few hours ago by Prime Minister Tony Abbott. "The government has authorized our raids against ISIS also in Syria. There can be no stability in the Middle East until we have eradicated the Daesh plague. So far our armed forces have fought terrorists in Iraq, now we need that they do it also in Syria ”.

The United States, in addition to the raids, operate in Syria also under a double aspect: support and formation of the so-called "moderate opposition". It should be noted that the coalition has not received approval from Damascus. This means that the mission profile will require a particular technological degree to avoid Syrian defenses and fighters.

Finally, Italy seems to have settled permanently away from the raids (and perhaps it is better this way, considering that we should send the Tornados against the terrestrial targets, a different matter if we were to carry out air superiority or intelligence operations).

The spot initiatives serve and are not needed - stated Prime Minister Renzi - need a long-term project.
