China: "B-2" bomber soon in production

17/07/15

China will develop a new long-range bomber capable of attacking targets beyond the Pacific area. The platform will have to be able to hit "the second chain of islands", an area that extends from the Kuril Islands through Japan, the Marianas Islands to South Indonesia.

The news was published by the China Daily citing government sources and taken back by Russian media.

The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) specifications for the next long-range strategic bomber have a minimum range of 8.000 km (5.000 miles) and the ability to carry a payload of over 10 tons.

The project is being developed at the Aircraft Design Institute (partner of Xi'an Aircraft Industrial Corporation) from the 1990.

The new Chinese bomber will be very similar to the American B-2. Presumably, some separate parts of the aircraft are already in production.

In the White Book of Defense, published last May, China confirmed that it will increase its early warning, attack and air defense capabilities, IT countermeasures, strategic projection and complete logistical support for any theater.

In recent years there have been numerous episodes of espionage and hacking of classified material between the US and China.

In this case we recall the sentence in 2011 to 32 years for the sale of military secrets to the Chinese (confirmed on appeal) of the engineer Noshir Gowadia. A naturalized American Indian, Gowadia is considered, after a long career at Northrop, one of the fathers of the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber (photo).
