Boko Haram and the infinite seizure

01/11/14

Months have passed since last April, Boko Haram seized around 270 high school students during lessons in a Catholic school, guilty only of being Christian and therefore "infidels" for the majority of the population of the northeastern Nigeria, stronghold of the Islamic group.

Since then all attempts have been in vain, even with international aid, for liberation. Several countries immediately mobilized by sending specialized troops, intelligence agents and latest generation technologies. Research to date has resulted in nothing.

The intense retaliatory military activity of the Nigerian army has sometimes bordered on vile acts, at the expense of respecting the most basic human rights.

The Nigerian government is using all its resources, also with the support of security consulting companies that actively operate on the ground and join the federal troops.

The negotiations launched for the release of the female students seem to be in a state of freezing. In fact, despite certain liberties granted to the Islamic terrorist group by the government, for pure illogical ideal, the leader of Boko Haram, denies any negotiation and to accept "benefits" for the release of the high school students.

The federal government had offered a bilateral truce in exchange for the girls' release. After a first phase in recent weeks where a solution to the infamous kidnapping seemed to have been found, Abubakar Shekau releases a video in which he proudly announces and with the usual arrogance of never having accepted the truce offered and that the followers of the fundamentalist group are ready to martyrdom for what they believe to be a holy war. In addition to the rejection of the truce, he claims that the high school girls were given as wives to the militiamen and converted to Islam.

One senses that everything happened in an extremely invasive way towards the Christians, so as to force them to memorize the first "Aya", the strophes of the Koran. The girls "would no longer be available to return to the old ways, let alone to meet Christian family members".

Here, more and more clearly, is the plan of Boko Haram - what as an analyst I define the "coranization of the infidels" - or the anticrocyte against Christians with any legal or illegal means.

Shekau also claims to be in possession of the German hostage kidnapped in the Adamawa State, the only expat in that area, married to a local woman and owner of a farm.

In spite of everything, the central government remains actively engaged in the positive resolution of what now appears to be an endless seizure.
