It has been defined as one of the largest ground operations conducted in Afghanistan by the Green Berets. A major al-Qaeda training camp in southern Afghanistan was attacked by US special forces supported by 200 Afghan troops. One particular should be noted: despite the massive satellite network of the United States, the field was only discovered in July. And we are certainly not talking about a small village.

Near Shorabak, near the border with Pakistan, al-Qaeda had created two sites: a first training ground of one square mile and a second of nearly 30 square miles. Before the ground assault, the United States "softened" the two sites with 63 air raids. The ground assault, which took place on 11 October last, was conducted by the green berets, the US "multipliers" in Afghanistan since the late 90s and by two Navy SEAL teams. At least 160 terrorists were eliminated during the raid.

The presence of al-Qaeda in the region was probably caused by the increase in Pakistani military operations on the other side of the border. We hit a large al-Qaeda sanctuary - comment from the Pentagon - we have seized a large number of digital weapons and equipment, although we cannot say how long the terrorists have evaded our detection.

"This camp was built to be a high-end training facility for enemy personnel. A one-of-a-kind camp, broken down into basic and advanced training areas. Training ranged from physical fitness to gun handling, to notions. of chemistry for the production of advanced explosives for sniper training ”.
