Telespazio, a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%), was awarded byEuropean Defense Agency (EDA), through its subsidiary Telespazio France, the framework contract for the supply of SatCom services to European countries.
The agreement aims to provide European Union member states, European entities and actors engaged in the EU's common security and defense policies with indispensable satellite communications services, in terms of criticality, resilience and security, as well as that are commercially accessible. The contract has a duration of four years and a value of several tens of millions of euros.
Thanks to this agreement, all European Union member countries will be guaranteed to centralize their demand for satellite communications and obtain coordinated, cheaper and more effective access to these services.
Telespazio will provide satellite communications end-to-end in different frequency bands, commercial and military, as well as the related terminals.
The program is open to all European States party to the EDA, to the various EU organisations, to civil and military missions and operations within the framework of the EU Common Security and Defense Policy, to third States which have stipulated agreements with the EDA. This inclusive approach underlines this program's commitment to promoting collaboration and partnership between different stakeholders, ensuring widespread access to critical satellite communications resources.
