From 19 to 22 February 2024, a delegation from the general secretariat of Defense and National Armaments Directorate, led by the director of Armamericano general chief inspector Giuseppe Lupoli went to Singapore to participate in the 2024 edition of the Singapore Airshow, the largest event of its kind in Asia.
The event saw the participation of around 60 official delegations and over 700 exhibitors from 40 different nations. The Italian companies present with their own stand were Leonardo, Elettronica, MBDA, Breton, Flysight, Gelbyson Aerospace, Aviointeriors, ALA, Miprons, MIEEG and Metasensing.
During the activity, the Italian delegation met with chief defense scientist of the MoD of Singapore, mr. Tan Peng Yam, and held informal meetings with senior figures in the Singapore Ministry of Defence, such as chief executive of the Defense, Science and Technology Agency, responsible for procurement, and the permanent secretary for defense development, similar in function to Segredifesa. Furthermore, visits were made to the stands of Italian and foreign companies and it was possible to hold bilateral meetings with delegations from Canada, the Philippines, Germany and Israel.
Overall, the participation of the Segredifesa delegation at the Show in question gave the opportunity to support the interests of the national industry in the strategic Indo-Pacific area and to consolidate the excellent level of bilateral relations in the defense sector with Singapore, creating the prerequisites for potential future bilateral collaboration opportunities, in particular in the area of research and development from a multi-domain perspective.
The Segredifesa delegation was received by the Italian ambassador, Dante Brandi, and fully supported during the activities by the Embassy staff.
