During the IDEX-NAVDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi, one of the most important world fairs dedicated to the Defense and Security sector, Seastema presented the SW MPEV platform, a technology designed and developed to meet the high requirements of the "Naval Law" - for the renewal plan of the Navy fleet - and which will be installed on the first LSS ship.
The project revisions and the testing phases currently underway are followed by the close collaboration of the Italian Navy which has validated the technical solutions adopted and has expressed full satisfaction and appreciation.
The main features of the new MPEV platform, which replaces the one used previously on FREMM frigates, include:
- implementation on MS Windows 10 OS, also compatible with Windows 7;
- multitouch functions similar to those used on Smartphones (gesture, pinch to zoom, panning);
- zoom of the video pages, maintaining the dynamic properties of the objects (useful for representing distributed systems such as bilges, water systems, fuel etc.);
- smart graphics with full use of the most recent and performing WPF graphics library (Windows Presentation Foundation);
- architecture settable as Client / Server or Multimaster;
- increased performance in terms of command response times - Monitor response;
- lighter software than in Multimaster configuration does not require the use of dedicated server machines;
- enhancement of the self-diagnostic function which is able to highlight details on the operation of individual components such as computer temperatures, wear of solid state disks, operation of single ports of Network Switches;
- LAM module (Login and Application Manager) for simple integration of third party packages;
- implementation of a first level of Cyber security included in the package. Possibility for further development of this aspect with both proprietary and third party modules.
Being the platform entirely developed in Seastema with proprietary technology, there will be numerous advantages for customers, in particular:
- possibility to satisfy specific customer requirements not present in the standard packages;
- greater possibilities for developing applications in collaboration with third-party System Integrators;
- greater support for maintenance during the life cycle of the Ship;
- rapidity in technological updates and in the resolution of malfunctions;
- focus on future product developments according to the needs of the reference segments.
