Qatar: official visit by Minister Pinotti

Minister Pinotti, on an official visit to Qatar, met the Minister for Defense Affairs, Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Attiyar, and the Emir's advisor for defense affairs, General Hamad Bin Ali Al Attiyah.

Military cooperation between the two countries and regional crisis scenarios - with particular reference to Iraq, Syria and Libya - and industrial partnership initiatives were at the center of the talks.

Italy and Qatar have been engaged in dialogue for some time and Minister Pinotti's visit has helped to strengthen and consolidate the close bilateral relationship that exists with the Gulf country.

In particular, Minister Pinotti expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved at the technical-military level with the Cooperation Plan signed in Doha at the end of last January.

Subsequently, the minister visited the 5 ^ edition of DIMDEX, International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference.

The exhibition, which involves several leading Italian companies in the sector, is organized by the Qatari armed forces every two years and is dedicated to the construction of naval constructions, aircraft for the Navy, assistance and rescue systems, equipment and military equipment.

Yesterday the minister met ship personnel Carabiniere - return from the anti-piracy operation Atalanta and in Qatar for DIMDEX - and Italian entrepreneurs operating in the country.

This year the show gave everyone the chance to visit some military ships of "Friendly Countries", including our ship Carabiniere, fourth unit of the Italian-French FREMM program (European Multi-Mission Frigate).

Minister Pinotti went on an official visit to Qatar on July 26, 2015. On the occasion he met with gen. Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, Minister of Defense for the signing of a technical agreement for an effective development of operational capabilities.
