MBDA today signed a memorandum of understanding for the supply of a new coastal defense system to the Qatar Emiri Naval Force (QENF). The agreement will result in a short-term contract in the value of 2,64 billion of Qatar's riyals (about 640 million). The supply will allow the Qatar Emiri Naval Force to improve monitoring of coastal vessel traffic and greater protection of territorial waters.

The systems required can use two different missiles, the Exocet MM40 Block 3 and the Mars ER (Extended Range), and can also operate autonomously with its own radar or, alternatively, by interfacing with a wider surveillance network.

"MBDA confirms its success in proposing systems with advanced operational capabilities at competitive costs," said Antonio Perfetti, Executive Director of Sales and Business Development and Managing Director of MBDA Italy.
