On February 6, 2024, MBDA signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Greek companies MILTECH and ALTUS in the context of its “R&D Booster” initiative in Greece.

MBDA's initiative called “R&D Booster”, is part of the strategic partnership agreement between France and Greece signed in 2021, with the aim of developing long-term cooperation in Europe.
Together with MILTECH and ALTUS, MBDA will collaborate on projects to develop systems based on the AKERON MP missile.

The first phase of the partnership with MILTECH involves the development of a launch kit for the AKERON MP, which MBDA is now offering on the global market as an option for light automatic turrets equipped with small-caliber machine guns.

Through the second partnership agreement with ALTUS, MBDA aims to develop a range of tactical drones equipped with AKERON MP missiles. This cooperation will begin with the validation of the integration of the AKERON MP missiles on the new ATLAS 8 HEAVY LIFTER drone from ALTUS.

Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, said: “These new partnership agreements, signed as part of the strategic partnership between France and Greece, are aimed at developing long-term business with the Hellenic industry. It means consolidating the long-standing relationship that exists between France and Greece. It also demonstrates MBDA's ability to nurture, support and strengthen industrial cooperation in Europe, a value central to MBDA's DNA."

These development projects are complementary to existing cooperation initiatives in the production, services and Research & Development sectors. The objective of these projects and contracts is to strengthen the link between MBDA and the Hellenic Defense industrial base.
