France and Sweden have expressed their desire to strengthen their cooperation in the defense sector, as part of a new strategic partnership, signed on January 30, during the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Sweden. Anti-tank systems and air defense have been identified as priority areas for cooperation.
In this context, a new, important phase has been initiated in the relationship between the two countries.
On January 31, the CEOs of MBDA and Saab, Eric Béranger and Micael Johansson, expressed their willingness to support this process in the areas of anti-tank systems and air defense, two capabilities identified as particularly critical for the Armed Forces of both countries, especially in the context of high intensity conflicts.
During the Business Forums, organized in the presence of the highest French and Swedish authorities, the two CEOs signed letters of intent to strengthen cooperation between their companies in these two sectors.
