The first entirely digital event promoted by Leonardo, in collaboration with AIPSA - Italian Association of Business Security Professionals, dedicated to the "Evolution of cyber risk and the impacts on the life of Italian companies and citizens" has ended.

At the center of the debate, the culture and training on Cyber Security and the urgency of a secure digital transformation, an instance made even more crucial by the acceleration of the digitization process due to the Covid-19 emergency. Another point of discussion, Crisis Management, or the ability of a company to respond promptly and efficiently manage the crisis to preserve the entire value chain, through rigorous preliminary planning and constant preparation together with monitoring cyber threats.

After the introduction of Barbara Poggiali, Managing Director of Leonardo's Cyber Security Division, who, in addition to sharing the company's vision on the issue of security, explained how the past few months have been characterized by an exponential growth in cyber risk, has interventions followed by the president of AIPSA, Andrea Chittaro, and the president of CLUSIT (Italian Association for IT Security), Gabriele Faggioli.

In particular, the emergency caused by Covid-19 has amplified the cyber attacks carried out by cyber criminals on certain targets. Between February and April, Leonardo's Security Operation Centers in Chieti and Bristol counted more than 230.000 malevolent “Coronavirus” campaigns worldwide, of which 6% towards Italy, with a particular impact on the pharmaceutical industry.

“The current scenario requires us to reflect and change trends in the culture of safety. In an increasingly interconnected and digital ecosystem, it must be understood in a global sense and is fundamental for safeguarding the resilience and growth of a company ", commented Barbara Poggiali, Managing Director of Leonardo's Cyber Security Division. "We must consider security as a theme not only purely technological, but also as a multidisciplinary process and a cultural approach, which will allow us to be ready to face the dynamics of a context in continuous evolution".

The conference participants were also able to take part in a virtual guided tour of the "Next Generation Security Operation Center" in Chieti, the main infrastructure through which Leonardo monitors the cyber threat and manages cyber attacks 24 hours a day, with over 150 highly specialized analysts supported by a powerful super calculator and advanced technologies (automation, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data) that increase its effectiveness.
