"With the support of the British Government, Leonardo is ready to invest and develop its business both in the UK and in support of the country's exports, in the context of long-term partnerships". This was underlined today by Mauro Moretti, CEO and General Manager of Leonardo, during the press conference presenting the operation that led to the confluence of Leonardo's British activities into a new, single entity: Leonardo MW Ltd, the pillar British by Leonardo. This operation makes Leonardo MW Ltd, with its 7.100 employees in the United Kingdom, one of the most important UK companies in the high technology sector. Thanks to research, design, production and support for high technology products and systems conducted for over a century, Leonardo is today in an ideal position to further develop its business in the British domestic market as well as in export.

Leonardo manufactures aircraft designed and built in the United Kingdom, as well as sensors and integrated systems for applications in the aeronautical, terrestrial and maritime fields, to which is added a distinctive competence in the field of cyber security. The new entity, Leonardo MW Ltd, brings together AgustaWestland Ltd, Selex ES Ltd, Finmeccanica UK Ltd and DRS Technologies UK Ltd, which will therefore operate under the sole 'Leonardo' brand. Norman Bone was appointed President and General Manager of the new company.

"We are very proud of our industrial and technological tradition in the UK," added Mauro Moretti, referring to the two prestigious brands, Westland for helicopters and Marconi for electronics, which inspired the name of the new company. "This tradition - continued the Managing Director and General Manager of Leonardo - is consolidated today thanks to a new unique company with a common identity, which will continue the fruitful collaboration that for over 100 years has linked us to the British Armed Forces".

Norman Bone, President and General Manager of Leonardo MW Ltd, commented: “In the UK, Leonardo is in a privileged position, being able to offer a wide range of capabilities on each platform in addition to systems and sensors and to integrated solutions and support to our customers in the aeronautical, terrestrial, maritime and cyber sector. We are now able to present ourselves in a cohesive way to our customers and stakeholders in the United Kingdom, as well as to our customers around the world, leveraging on the combination of the forces gathered in Leonardo as the only entity ".
