The organization of the Chambers of Commerce of the United Kingdom (British Chambers of Commerce) has awarded Leonardo the recognition of Business Hero for the exceptional contribution made during the Covid-19 emergency.
In agreement with local Chambers of Commerce, the British Chambers of Commerce has chosen to award UK companies whose response to the pandemic has exceeded expectations. Leonardo, which employs more than 7.500 employees in the UK at its sites in Edinburgh, Basildon, Luton, Southampton and Yeovil, has been awarded the Business Hero qualification for continued efforts to ensure essential capabilities for the current and future programs of the Armed Forces, in addition to guaranteed support for helicopter transport operations of personnel and materials throughout the country to deal with the pandemic. The company's employees also received commendation for making thousands of personal protective equipment for the National Health Service in the time available outside of working hours.
“In this extraordinary phase our employees have repeatedly strengthened their commitment to the challenges,” said Norman Bone, President and General Manager of Leonardo UK. “We have adapted quickly to the drastic changes in order to continue to deliver the technology and capabilities our Armed Forces have relied on in their ongoing efforts during the crisis. I am deeply proud of the dedication and commitment shown by our people: not only for our customers, but also for the communities in which they live and work across the country ”.
