The AW169 helicopter won the tender announced by the Norwegian Police for the new helicopter dedicated to public safety tasks in the country. The customer has recently announced this, giving way to the modernization of its helicopter component. The contract, which is expected to be signed in August 2017, involves the purchase of three helicopters, with an option for an additional three units, and a support package lasting ten years.
The new fleet will allow the Norwegian police to strengthen its capabilities and its readiness to respond to threats such as terrorism and other crimes, ensuring a wider range of action than current helicopters in service or operating more quickly on shorter routes taking off from various bases when needed.
AW169 will perform a series of tasks including reconnaissance, surveillance, and the transport of teams dedicated to special operations ensuring high versatility thanks to a quick and easy reconfiguration according to the mission. The specific configuration of the Norwegian police helicopters will allow the transport of six people in addition to the crew.
