Leonardo-Finmeccanica today announced the signing by the Government of Pakistan of a contract for several AgustaWestland AW139 twin-engine helicopters.
The contract, signed in Islamabad in the presence of Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo, is part of a program to renew the helicopter fleet to be implemented in several phases and including logistical support and training services. AW139, with deliveries scheduled in 2017, will be used for search and rescue tasks in the country.
With this contract, Leonardo-Finmeccanica achieves an important result, further expanding the presence of the AW139 in the country where 11 helicopters are already in service, of which 5 is used by the government for civil protection and transport tasks.
