Leonardo and the Directorate of Aviation Armaments and Airworthiness, the general secretariat of defense / National Armaments Directorate, yesterday signed the acquisition contract for the supply to the Slovenian Ministry of Defense of a C-27J aircraft Spartan, additional equipment for aero-medical operations, training services and integrated logistic support for the duration of two years.
The contract follows the Government-Government Italy-Slovenia (G2G) agreement signed by the Italian Minister of Defense, Lorenzo Guerini, and by the Slovenian Minister of Defense, Matej Tonin, on November 17, 2021, and is aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration between two countries.
Lucio Valerio Cioffi, general manager of Leonardo, said: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone as part of the G2G initiative between Italy and Slovenia. The C-27J Spartan represents the most effective solution to meet the rigorous requirements defined by the collaboration between the two Governments ".
Used in the most challenging geographical, environmental and operational contexts, the C-27J Spartan di Leonardo is an aircraft capable of carrying out different types of missions in the field of defense and civil protection.
The vast operational experience accumulated in various Air Forces around the world makes it the ideal aircraft for military transport missions, paratrooper and material airborne, tactical support in the "last mile" to ground forces, special forces operations, humanitarian / aero assistance. - medicine and support for populations affected by environmental disasters.
Lo Spartan it well reflects the very essence of the concept of national security, proving to be the best set-up for defense forces operations and for their fundamental contribution to supporting the population.
