Leonardo participates in ADEX 2023, the International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition in Seoul (South Korea) - stand 199 in Hall F - from 17 to 22 October. The company has been operating in the Asian country for several decades both in the helicopter field, with the AW159s currently used by the South Korean Navy, and in the defense electronics sector. Today, in fact, the main civil and military institutions of the Republic of Korea employ a wide range of high-tech Leonardo equipment.

At ADEX, the two models of the AW101 and AW189 helicopters will be on display at the Leonardo stand to share the latest technologies, high performance and innovative solutions in terms of mission capabilities.

L'AW101 it combines innovative design and technology with a wide range of action and high levels of autonomy, ensuring operational readiness in all missions. The versatility of the AW101 platform and a complete range of on-board equipment allow operators to configure the helicopter for a wide range of missions such as maritime operations, personnel recovery and search and rescue. Mission flexibility, combined with the most spacious cabin in the category characterized by large side sliding doors and rear access ramp, make the AW101 the most advanced, flexible and capable multi-role helicopter available on the market today.

The AW101 is designed to operate in extreme climate conditions; it is equipped with a de-icing system designed to operate at temperatures between −45 and +50 °C. Furthermore, the helicopter's control systems allow the AW101 to maintain stable flight even in crosswinds of 74 km/h (40 kn).

The AW101 is a medium-heavy helicopter used for a variety of operations by several countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy and Canada, and has also been ordered by Norway in a search-and-rescue configuration that includes Leonardo's Osprey AESA radar. The AW101 is a multi-role helicopter capable of carrying out a wide range of operations, including specialized roles such as mine clearance, amphibious support and transport.

THEAW189 It is a twin-engine helicopter for civil and public service applications. Leonardo is one of Korea's main helicopter partners, having previously also supplied the Super Lynx for the South Korean Navy, the AW139 helicopter for the Korean Coast Guard and several regional fire services, the AW119K for the Korean National Police and the GrandNew and AW169 for EMS (Emergency Medical Services) operations.

The AW189 is the best multi-role solution for today's challenging operations, with exceptional payload and autonomy and advanced technologies. This model has proven extremely effective not only in the energy support market but also in the public service market for search and rescue operations, MEDEVAC, firefighting, civil protection, law enforcement and has already been chosen for these roles by several operators in Asian countries.

Area of notable interest ad ADEX is the RAT31 DL/M by Leonardo, L-band solid-state 3D surveillance radar, designed to protect large portions of territory thanks to its wide range. The sensor is part of a family of long-range systems with surveillance, air and missile defense capabilities, supporting national security and operational missions. The RAT 31 DL/M can adapt to different operational scenarios, even those characterized by the simultaneous presence of jamming and electromagnetic disturbances. It is highly reliable and, even in the event that some radar modules fail, the "graceful degradation" characteristics allow the overall performance of the system to be guaranteed.

Leonardo has sold over 70 RAT 31s (in fixed and mobile versions) in 18 countries. The radar is an essential component of NATO's air defense capabilities, fully satisfying the requirements both in terms of architecture and performance, and is capable of ensuring full interoperability during multinational missions.
