Finmeccanica presents its technological solutions to LAAD Security 2016 in Brazil

Finmeccanica, relying on its presence in the important Brazilian market, is taking part this week in the LAAD Security show in Rio de Janeiro, the first edition after the announcement of the new name "Leonardo", with its own capabilities in the aerospace and security fields.

Ready to seize new opportunities in the region, the company presents its solutions in sectors such as security, helicopters, airborne systems, space, naval and electronic defense, able to strengthen the security of a country that sees its role grow in the South America and the world.

An AW109 helicopter is one of the security solutions in Brazil today GrandNew used by the 2015 by the Government of the State of Sao Paulo for patrolling and environmental and forestry surveillance tasks.

In Brazil, Finmeccanica now boasts more than 200 helicopters in service, used for multiple roles including executive / corporate transportation, public order, public utility tasks and offshore transportation.

Among the future commercial opportunities on the Brazilian helicopter market for safety and public order tasks, those for the AW169 model, already certified, and for the AW109 Trekker, currently under development, appear to be significant. Among the most successful products in Brazil today are the AW119Kx single-engine helicopter, recently modernized with a new cockpit, advanced avionics and a wide range of mission equipment, and the twin-engine AW139. The first Brazilian government client for the latter, the Federal Police, is already benefiting from the operational advantages of its new helicopter.

A Finmeccanica plant based in San Paolo operates as a regional support center to cover the maintenance needs of the growing fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters in Brazil and South America. Support services provided include supply of spare parts, engineering and training for AW119 models, AW109 series, Large/GrandNew and AW139, to which AW189 and AW169 will soon be added.
