The fifteenth edition of Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2016 opens today in Malaysia, one of the most important exhibitions on security and defense technologies, held every two years in the capital. Finmeccanica, whose name change to Leonardo the next 28 will be submitted for approval to the Shareholders' Meeting on April, participate in the event with a strong presence in the South East Asia area, and with further prospects for success in what is considered one of the most promising markets in the world .

In Malaysia, Finmeccanica has been present for years on board the ships of the Royal Malaysian Navy with its defense systems, in particular by means of 76 / 62mm towers and light torpedoes both for surface units and for submarines, and with AgustaWestland helicopters Super Lynx 300, and supplied AW109 twin-engine light helicopters to the Army. Radar and communication systems have been contributing for many years to the capabilities of the Malaysian Armed Forces in air defense and territorial control and to managing the air traffic control activities of various civil airports, first of all the international airport of Kuala Lumpur, among the largest of the region.

In the rest of the continent, Finmeccanica boasts a cross-sectional presence in all its business areas, starting with the aeronautics, with the C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft in service with the Royal Australian Air Force, and the advanced trainer Aermacchi M-346, whose first export customer was the Singapore Air Force. In the helicopter field, the armed forces of Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Australia and the Philippines are historical customers of AgustaWestland helicopters, which are mainly used for naval tasks. Finmeccanica defense and security systems are on board a large number of ships, with 76 / 62mm towers, radar and communication systems, and on board many submarines, with Black Shark torpedoes and other underwater countermeasures.

Among the commercial prospects that can be opened for Finmeccanica, in the short and medium term, there are further utility helicopters, naval and with antisubmarine roles, requirements for radar for air defense and for coastal control and tactical transport aircraft. The integration of systems represents the real challenge that all countries are facing to ensure the defense and security of their citizens. The ability to develop them, produce them and govern them through a single industrial entity, capable of adapting the most advanced technological solutions to the needs of the individual market, is one of the strengths of Finmeccanica "one company".
