e-GEOS, a joint venture between Telespazio (80%) and the Italian Space Agency (20%), has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Japan Space Imaging (JSI), the exclusive partner of the Italian company in Japan, for the supply to the Japanese government of satellite data generated by the Italian constellation COSMO-SkyMed.

e-GEOS will install a dedicated ground station (CUT: Commercial User Terminal) in Japan, thanks to which all operations can be managed: from acquisition planning to satellite data collection, in various resolutions, to their processing in Near Real Time.

COSMO-SkyMed is one of the most innovative programs in the field of Earth observation, funded by the Italian Space Agency, the Ministry of Defense and MIUR. The system consists of a constellation of four satellites, built by Thales Alenia Space, equipped with radar sensors capable of operating in all weather and visibility conditions and with a very high revisiting frequency. Telespazio has built the entire land segment of the system and the Fucino Space Center hosts the constellation Control Center. The Matera Space Center managed by e-GEOS is responsible for the acquisition, processing and distribution of satellite data for civil applications. e-GEOS markets COSMO-SkyMed data worldwide.
