Boeing has signed a contract with NATO worth approximately 250 million dollars to install digital flight and avionics platforms on 13 AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control Systems) based on the 707 commercial aircraft.

The update should translate into savings in personnel costs, as the crew in the cockpit will be reduced from four to three.
