Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi and the General Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments (ARMAEREO) signed the contract today in Rome, worth 120 million, for the supply to the Air Force of three more M-346 advanced training aircraft (whose Armed Forces identification code is T-346A), of the ground training system and the related logistic support.
The agreement is part of a more extensive agreement, signed in 2009, which included a total of 15 M-346.
At the same time as the agreement, a contract was signed for a first tranche of six aircraft and the related flight simulators.
The T-346A, as well as contributing to the process of technological upgrading of the Air Force fleet dedicated to advanced training, will form the training pillar for the new generation of pilots of the aerotactic line, both Italian and international, at the 61 ° Stormo di Lecce, home of the Italian flight school also open to students from other countries.
The M-346 is the most advanced training aircraft available on the market today and is the only one in the world designed specifically to train pilots for the latest generation of high performance military aircraft.
The M-346 won the most important international competitions (Singapore, Israel and Poland), reaching today an order portfolio of 59 aircraft.
The Integrated Training System (ITS - Integrated Training System) of the M-346, already operating at the base of the Air Force of Lecce, includes, in addition to the aircraft, also the simulation and ground training systems.
