The first edition of the event took place from 4 to 5 December in Riyadh Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) between Saudi Arabia and Italy on defense and security issues. Army Corps General Luciano Portolano, general secretary of defense and national director of armaments, led the Italian delegation made up of personnel from Segredifesa and the defense general staff.
General Al Ruwaili, Chief of Staff of the Saudi Defense and Chairman of the Saudi Defense General Staff, welcomed General Portolano Joint Consultative Committee, who said he was particularly satisfied with the excellent relations between Saudi Arabia and Italy, confirming the Arab country's strong interest in deepening relations with our country also through cooperation in the defense sector.
General Portolano ensured full availability and collaboration in the defense field, emphasizing the importance of the interoperability of the new programs, going beyond the concept of joint forces and projecting itself towards that of All Domain, through the integration of all defense capabilities and resources.
Also particularly significant were General Portolano's meetings with the assistant secretary of defense for executive affairs, Dr. Khaled Al Bayari, and the deputy minister for defense for armament procurement, mr. Ibrahim Al Suwayed, with whom the main security topics in the Middle Eastern region were discussed, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 and possible industrial interests and collaborations in the defense field.
The joint committee thus fits in with the relations and official visits between the two countries, such as, for example, the visit of the Saudi defense chief of staff to Italy.
