The training area of the Capo Teulada (SU) shooting range was the setting for the exercises of the “Aosta.
Companies of the 5th "Aosta" infantry regiment, of the "Lancieri d'Aosta" regiment (6 °), of the 6th bersaglieri regiment and of the 4th sapper engineers regiment took part in the "Capricorn 3/2022", as part of the training activities carried out at the Tactical Training Center (CAT) in Sardinia.
The units operated by simulating various operational contexts, practicing planning, organizing and conducting tactical activities as part of a peace support operation.
After the first training phase, the departments of the “Aosta” brigade conducted the “Firewall 2.0”, an exercise specifically aimed at maintaining specialty operational capabilities. In the simulated scenario, a battery on FH-70 howitzers of the 24th "Peloritani" land artillery regiment was trained to operate in the role of direct fire support, interacting directly from Messina, thanks to the connections guaranteed by the 232 ° transmission regiment of Avellino.
All the activities, aimed at consolidating and increasing the specialty procedures, carried out even in the least favorable and stressful conditions, made it possible to appreciate the level of preparation of the individual units.
The commander of the “Aosta”, Brigadier General Giuseppe Bertoncello, expressed his satisfaction for the effort and commitment of the personnel in exercise, as well as for the ability to combine, in the same training period, different tactical activities.
