The Taurinense brigade celebrates 72 years

Last April 15th, on the occasion of the anniversary of its reconstitution, the Alpine brigade Taurinense celebrated the anniversary with a solemn flag raising. The event, broadcast via video link, allowed all members of the brigade, both those present in the permanent headquarters and those deployed in operations, to virtually participate in this significant moment.

The event symbolically brought together the "black pens" of the entire brigade, operating both nationally with the "Safe Roads" operation and internationally, as in Lebanon, where the brigade assumed command of the West Sector of UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) and of Joint Task Force Italian (JTF L-SW).

From the Shama base, in southern Lebanon, Brigadier General Enrico Fontana greeted all the connected units, thanking the Alpine troops for their daily commitment to serving the nation, both in Italy and abroad.

Reconstituted on 15 April 1952, the brigade inherits the traditions of the historic "Cuneense" and "Taurinense" divisions. Today, it is one of the two large units of the Alpine Troops of the Army, engaged in numerous international missions under the aegis of the UN, NATO and the EU. At a national level, the brigade sees its men and women employed in the "Strade Sicure" operation and leads the Piedmont-Liguria and Valsusa-Valle d'Aosta groupings.
