It was almost midnight yesterday when staff from the "Serenissima" Lagunari regiment, while on a military vehicle on their way to Venice, noticed, near the Ponte della Libertà in Mestre, a car that repeatedly skidded from one lane to another .

The Lagoons decided to intervene and forced the car to pull over and lock up, proceeding to identify the occupants who were two Italians of 30 and 41 years, in an evident state of intoxication. The patrol secured the area by managing the traffic and waited for the arrival of the police. The intervention of the Lagoons avoided the risk of a traffic accident with serious consequences.

Since August of the 2008 the Lagoons have participated in the "Safe Roads" Operation and, together with the Police Forces, provide security to the city of Venice with activities ranging from the prevention of petty crime to the countering of terrorist threats.
