Safe Roads: Completed the work of the 1 ° regiment transmissions

After the remodulation of the device envisaged by the decree of the Ministry of the Interior, the Safe Roads operation in Lampedusa for men and women of the 1 transmissions regiment.

The soldiers, framed from June 2013 in the "Western Sicily" grouping under the command of the 6 ° Lancieri d'Aosta, returned in the late evening of the 11 in the city of Milan.

The 68 transmitters of the 1 broadcasting regiment, a direct support unit to NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Italy (NRDC-ITA) of Solbiate Olona, ​​were engaged in patrolling and surveillance - in competition with law enforcement agencies - of the rescue center and first reception and several sensitive sites on the island.

Among the most significant moments, the intervention following the sinking of the 3 October 2013, when a boat full of migrants sank off the island causing 366 deaths.

On that occasion the military intervened promptly with a system of observation and control along the coasts to sight the castaways, contributed significantly to the rescue of the survivors and to the recovery of the bodies from the Favaloro pier.
