As part of the technical / military cooperation relations between the Spanish and Italian Armed Forces, a brief but intense bilateral activity related to the specialized activity of the "Meteomont" ended last week in favor of officers from the Escuela Militar de Montana y Operaciones Especiales (EMMOE) of the Spanish Army of Tierra.

The purpose of the activity was to highlight to the Spanish officers the usefulness, the procedures and the use of the Meteomont, fundamental for mountain operations and for supporting units being trained.

On the snowy mountains of the Cozie Alps, the specialists of the Meteomont of the Taurinense Alpine Brigade accompanied the Spanish soldiers to the Sestriere manual survey site, showing the compilation of the formats necessary for the transmission of the nivological data. Subsequently - through off-piste skiing - provision was made for itinerant surveys and a visit to the automatic station of the Black Lake, in Bousson (TO), with the explanation of the functioning of the detections in the automatic stations. The staff then had the opportunity to attend the training of a platoon of the "Taurinense" in search of an avalanche with an "Artva" apparatus.

At the 00 Sector Center, located in the Monte Grappa barracks in Turin, the part relating to the drafting of the weather forecast bulletin and the production of avalanche monographs was treated, another useful tool available to the units for the planning of mountain movement itineraries .

In addition to the technical / operational in-depth analysis of the survey techniques and the drafting of the bulletins, the close synergy with the Agencies and civil entities was also mentioned, as well as with the University of Turin, added value - and optimization of resources - for service efficiency.

At the end of the week, the Spanish officials expressed their deep satisfaction with what they had learned about the activity of the Meteomont, a structure not yet present in the Iberian Armed Forces, forced to rely on civil bodies.
