From 14 to 16 July, three aircraft of the Italian Army took part in the international event "RIAT 2023" which was held in Fairford in Great Britain.
Almost 20 years after its last presence, the Army Aviation took part in the event by deploying an AH129D scout and escort helicopter, a UH169B multi-purpose and transport helicopter and a Dornier 228 light aircraft, all belonging to the Land Operations Forces Army.
The aircraft flew from bases in Italy to those of the Royal Air Force where they joined over 200 assets from 25 countries.
RIAT 2023 brought together 56 teams from all over the world with stands and aerial displays that increased the international appeal of the event.
In particular, the AH129D helicopter better known by the name of "Mangusta", designed and produced by the Italian industry, performed a demonstration in flight, winning the "Best flying demonstration by an overseas participant". More than 150 aircraft from 17 nations participated in the competition.
