The 69 ^ Alpine Troop Ski Championships presented in Bolzano

It was the commander of the Alpine troops, General Federico Bonato, this morning who presented the many new features that will characterize the 2017 edition of the important international event that will take place in the Alta Val Pusteria from 13 to 19 March.

Among these, already on the opening day of the Championships, a match of Para Ice Hockey which will see the Italian and Slovak Nationals compete against each other at the Dobbiaco ice rink in a match, the proceeds of which will be donated entirely to charity and the issue of a special stamp cancellation, available with a dedicated postcard at the Sala Resch in San Candido from 14pm to 19pm.

The program also includes - in addition to the numerous sporting events valid for the awarding of the trophies at stake and the titles of the Italian Army Champion in the various disciplines - so many entertainment events open to the public, such as the concert of the Alpine fanfare, the night torchlight procession and the artistic performances of the ice dancers Anna Cappellini with Luca Lanotte and Charlene Guignard with Marco Fabbri (at the Palaghiaccio di Dobbiaco, Tuesday 14 March from 18.00 pm).

Testimonials of the event were two South Tyrolean champions from the Army Sports Center - Karin Oberhofer, winner of a medal in biathlon at the Sochi Winter Olympics and Stefan Zelger, an emerging cross-country skiing talent. Next to them the Military Alpine Rescue Team of the Command Department and Tactical Support "Tridentina", Alpine troops engaged last January in Central Italy to bring relief to the population affected by the snow emergency. Presenting them to the audience, the commander of the Alpine troops underlined howthe purpose of the Championships is precisely to evaluate the training of personnel in knowing how to move, operate and live in the mountains even in extreme conditions, as they recently demonstrated in Abruzzo and Marche".
