The ceremony in honor of the infantryman Vincenzo Sepe, veteran and survivor of the Kefalonia and Corfu massacre, took place in recent days at the conference hall of the Palazzo Caetani in Fondi, on the occasion of the completion of his 100 years.

The 10 June 1943 Vincenzo Sepe reached, with the 18 ° infantry regiment Acqui, department of belonging, the Greek island of Corfu, where, following the armistice of the September 8, there were violent gun battles with the German troops. Sepe was deported to prison camps first in Germany and then in Russia. The 10 January 1981 receives the Cross of Merit of War for internment in Germany.

The Prefect of Latina, Dr. Pierluigi Faloni and the deputy commander of the "Acqui" division, Brigadier General Francesco Principe, together with a military representative.

Particular solemnity was assumed by the ceremony because the prefect of Latina handed over to Mr. Vincenzo Sepe the Medal of Liberation conferred by the Ministry of Defense for those who participated in the resistance and the War of Liberation.

The mayor of Fondi dott. Salvatore De Meo gave his fellow citizen a plaque in recognition "for the patriotic heroism expressed in the name of the eternal values ​​of freedom and justice and for an entire life of industrious and clear rectitude". A delegation of the ANPI (National Association of Partisans of Italy) of Latina has handed over to the veteran found the honorary card of the Partisan Association.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of students from the Comprehensive Institutes of the city, demonstrating the strong link between past and present.
