This morning, in the Piazza d'Armi of the 235th "Piceno" volunteer training regiment, 89 volunteers on a fixed one-year stop (VFP1), belonging to the 2nd block 2020, took an oath of loyalty to the Italian Republic.
In the presence of the Regimental War Flag and in the presence of the commander of the Infantry School, Brigadier General Eugenio Dessì, military and civil authorities and a representative of the fighting and weapon associations, the volunteers shouted "I swear!" and sung the Hymn by Mameli, on the notes of the band of Army Transportation and Materials School.
The ceremony, broadcast live on the official channels of the Armed Force, was carried out in full compliance with the containment and contrasting rules for the epidemiological emergency from COVID-19 and saw the participation, albeit in a limited number, of the family members of the jurands.
The 2nd block 2020 was named after the corporal Corrado Viali, decorated with the Gold Medal for Military Valor, who heroically fell in North Africa during the Second World War.
The regimental commander, Colonel Marcello Di Mauro, during his speech said: “The formula you will pronounce binds you to the values of Love of Country, Discipline, Sacrifice, Respect and Honor, which have always been the cornerstones of the life of men and women in uniform. We, who having taken the same path, preceded you in the choice, will accompany you on this hard but rewarding path ".
"By swearing in front of the Flag, which represents our history and the values in which we believe and which we defend, you have solemnly pledged to dedicate the best of yourself to Italy, to serve the country with honesty, loyalty and honor" were the words of Brigadier General Eugenio Dessì, commander of the Infantry School.
The volunteers of the 2nd bracket of the 2nd block 2020, who during the 6 weeks of the course alternated classroom lessons with close practical training, aimed at achieving the predetermined educational and training objectives, on 1 February next will leave the "city of Cento Torri ”to reach the units of the Armed Force located throughout the national territory.
