Army bands celebrate the June 2 in railway stations

02/06/14

This morning bands and fanfares of the Italian army celebrated the Republic Day, from Trieste to Palermo, playing at the same time in the stations of eight major cities.

The initiative, conceived by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Italian State Railways Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, wanted to commemorate the Republic's party in those places, such as the major railway stations, which in terms of logistics importance they played a fundamental role in the gigantic reconstruction work, following the Second World War.

In Bari Centrale the band of the Pinerolo brigade performed; in Florence, Santa Maria Novella, the band of the Folgore brigade; in Napoli Centrale, the band of the anti-aircraft artillery command; in Palermo Centrale, the fanfare of the 6 ° bersaglieri regiment; in Reggio Calabria, the band of the Aosta brigade; at Roma Termini the band of the transport and materials school; in Trieste, the fanfare of the Pozzuolo del Friuli brigade; finally in Turin Porta Nuova, the fanfare of the Taurinense brigade. During the concerts the national anthem was performed and some excerpts from the traditional band repertoire. The Italian military band bodies, all formed by musicians graduated from the conservatory, can get to have a staff of 100 elements, consisting of wind instruments and percussion. At the end of the exhibitions, the Italian state railways distributed a copy of the Constitution to all present.
