The “Folgore” paratroop brigade concluded an exercise on Tuesday aimed at testing the supply capacities of its units in a high-intensity scenario. The parachutists of the 6 ° Pisa maneuvering regiment, as a refueling unit, and of the 187 ° regiment of Livorno, as a powered unit participated in the activity.

The logistics unit, under the direction of tenetement colonello Davide Oppo, commander of the refueling battalion, deployed a field command post, at its headquarters in Pisa, whose operations room coordinated the activities and monitored the nuclei operating on the ground.

The 187 ° parachute regiment, instead, has deployed a company whose units have been located in the training area of Valle Ugione and in the "Lustrissimi" barracks of Livorno. The brigade command has started the exercise by sending a request for supplies " urgent ”at the 6 ° REMA based on the needs expressed by the 187 ° paratroopers regiment.

The soldiers stationed in Pisa, having received the request, have prepared the material and in a very short time they have deployed men and vehicles on the ground sending to Livorno up to 50 ton. of provisions and 30 ton. of ammunition.

Subsequently, a "preventive" supply was simulated through the creation of an advanced distribution post in a place decided at the time by the military of the 187 ° regiment, so as to test the effectiveness of the command and control methods. The delivery of supplies took place through the transfer of materials from the trucks of the logistics unit to that of the combat unit.

The third and final phase involved paratroopers performing a "normal" supply of materials.

In this case the materials were conditioned a priori and the activity was conducted with the use of tactical trucks for the transport of 5 containers and tactical tankers for the transport of 24.000 liters of fuel.

The correct performance of the activities was guaranteed by the deployment of the logistics rendez-vous points with the task of ensuring the timely link up between the supply structures and the operational pawns.

The exercise, besides having allowed to test the logistic and operational capabilities of the 6 ° maneuvering regiment in a high intensity scenario, was also an occasion for the definition and elaboration of the new tactical-logistic refueling procedures to be implemented for future operations.
