With a continuous activity combined of 36 hours, an intense training phase was completed in recent days which involved the personnel of the 11th Bersaglieri regiment supported by units belonging to the 132nd "Ariete" armored brigade and by some external departments, constituting the core of the Multinational Infantry Regiment i.e. the maneuvering unit of theEuropean Union Battle Group (EUBG) Force Package, a highly operational readiness force available to the European Community for the 2nd half of 2021.
The 11th Bersaglieri Regiment therefore conceived, planned and conducted, in the period between 12 and 23 April last, at the training areas of Cellina-Meduna and neighboring areas, the Multinational Cross Training (MNCT), an important moment of readiness of the forces aimed at achieving full interoperability between the assets placed under it.
A Main Command Post, where it is staff of the regiment, supplemented by an “AIR” officer of the 4th AVES “ALTAIR” regiment and a Fire Support Officer (FSO) of the 132nd "Ariete" artillery regiment, was able to test and refine its internal processes for planning, issuing orders and conducting tactical activities, standardizing operational procedures also from a multinational perspective and verifying, at the same time, the ability to ensure an adequate Command and Control (C2) structure in potential operational scenarios of high intensity use. In this regard, during the final stages of the exercise, when the maneuver required a more adherent C2, a Tactical Command Post mobile on tracked vehicles M577.
The assets Fighting, Combat Support e Combat Service Support of the Multinational Infantry Regiment, namely two "Dardo" companies, the maneuver support company and the logistic support company of the 11th Bersaglieri regiment, a Route Clearance Package (RCP) of the 10th sappers engineer regiment, one core Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) of the “Serenissima” lagoon regiment, a Fire Support Team (FST) of the 132nd artillery regiment and a platoon of the 2nd alpine transmission regiment, conducted training activities at the Cellina-Meduna polygon, developed with progressive difficulty and intensity, reaching the ability to operate jointly under the human, technical and procedural.
The departments involved gave birth, in fact, to different "situational exercises" devoted to maximum realism thanks also to the participation of a platoon of the cavalry regiment "Lancieri di Novara" (5th) in OPFOR configuration, which allowed the improvement of the technical-tactical procedures on the ground and the improvement of coordination between all participating assets, including those with rotary wing attack of the 5th AVES "RIGEL" regiment and multirole of the 4th AVES "ALTAIR" regiment, as well as fire support indirect. In order to further increase the realistic nature of the training, the use of simulation systems was also envisaged "live" C-IED and opposing parties (MILES).
At the end of the activity, no less important than the previous phases, an effective one was carried out After Action Review (AAR) where, with the contribution of all the pawns participating in the MNCT, the foundations were laid to consolidate the excellent results achieved in terms of interoperability in future training appointments.
All the exercises were carried out in full compliance with the prevention and protection measures imposed by the current epidemiological emergency, reinforced by the constant monitoring of personnel.
