The aided path was inaugurated in recent days "Taurinense Alpine Brigade" at Passo della Mulattiera, municipality of Oulx (TO) in Alta Val Susa. Many civil and military authorities were present at the ribbon cutting: the deputy commander of the "Taurinense" alpine brigade Colonel Pierpaolo Lamacchia, the national president ofNational Alpine Association Sebastiano Favero, the mayor of Oulx Andrea Terzolo, the president of CAI Bardonecchia Piero Scaglia, the president of the Alpine area Turin2 Marco Cenni is the president of the forestry consortium Upper Susa Valley Massimo Garavelli.

The historic "Ferrata degli Alpini", so called before the restoration work just completed, is actually an aided path that crosses the Italian side diagonally below Punta Charrà. Built by the Alpine troops in the years preceding the Second World War, the purpose of the path was to protect supplies between the Mulattiera and Sanità passes, while remaining sheltered from the French side. In the mid-70s, the battalion Susa restored the path making it accessible to hikers. However, the cables and anchors, subjected to avalanches during the winter and landslides during the summer, were very deteriorated over time.

Fifty years later, the Alpine troops of the "Taurinense" brigade of the Italian Army and the Civil Protection volunteers of the 1st ANA grouping again took care of the restoration and safety of the equipped path, carrying out important maintenance works , inspection and control.

Thanks to the help of special vehicles of the 32nd Engineer Guastatori Regiment stationed in Fossano and to the great experience of qualified military mountaineering instructors belonging to the "Taurinense", and with the use of mountaineering teams, logisticians and Civil Protection supports of the ANA, it was possible to reopen the plant, much appreciated by Italian and foreign tourists and mountaineers.

The local Italian Alpine Club, which launched the idea of restoration, together with the Alpine area Turin2 and the Municipality of Oulx, proceeded to find the funds used by the Alta Valle di Susa Forestry Consortium and to purchase the materials necessary for the construction of the works, subsequently carried out by the Army personnel and by the Civil Protection of the ANA.

The Italian Army, also strengthened by the experience gained in the course of the joint exercises of the Vardirex series (Various Disaster Relief Management Exercise) and the rescue and safety interventions of the territory such as the LUTO 2021 operation in Piedmont, has made available the professionalism, enthusiasm and technologies at its disposal confirming the constant commitment to the community and safety in the mountains.
