The “Emanuele Amoruso” skill-house, the new training facility of the 9th Alpini regiment, was inaugurated in these days at the “Pasquali” barracks in L'Aquila. The commander, Colonel Gianmarco Laurencig welcomed General Nicola Piasente, commander of the "Taurinense" brigade, the prefect of L'Aquila, Cinzia Torraco, the municipal councilor and the family of Marshal Amoruso for the brief inauguration ceremony, which was followed by a tactical demonstration of the potential of the new plant.

The "skill house" is a structure of about 230 square meters that reproduces a house / building with the various environments, which will allow to improve the training of the military in urban combat, according to the various needs identified from time to time.

Modulable in almost 400 different combinations, it will be essential to develop in squad / platoon commanders and individual soldiers the ability to react in the face of threats in a closed environment, stimulating the cohesion and efficiency of the units.

With the creation of the skill-house, the capabilities of the “Taurinense” brigade and its regiments to train their personnel are further expanded. The exercise in breaking into a house - modular and with increasing difficulties - joins the possibilities offered by the "village", on a 1: 1 scale, built in the military area of Baudenasca (Turin) and by the "training strip" counter IED in Salmour (Cuneo), necessary to increase combat capabilities in urbanized areas (urban warfare).

The presence of ISOPOL-type polygons in the tunnel (made using specific prefabricated modules and with remote target control) in many of the brigade's barracks, completes the shooting activities with individual and departmental weapons carried out in the permanent ranges such as Tavernette (TO) or occasional, such as those present in Piedmont on the Cottian and Maritime Alps and in the Abruzzo Apennines.

It is in these areas - which have every typical feature of the mountain environment - that the men and women of the brigade can train in the so-called "mountain warfare", that is the ability to move, operate and fight in extreme environments and climatic situations such as the Alpine ones. .

Additional tools, which make the Brigade and its regiments constantly ready and trained, are for example the artificial climbing towers and the "fast rope" towers, as well as the tracks for off-road driving of the tactical vehicles present in the Cuneo area at Salmour and, thanks to an agreement with the external company, in Cervasca.

If the training of every soldier cannot ignore the practical application of technical-tactical procedures, simulation systems have assumed great importance in recent years. Brigade units constantly employ the FATS - SAT system (FireArms Training System - Small Arms Trainer), an interactive virtual system for simulating shooting with individual and unit weapons, and the “Miles” duel system which, through the use of specific sensors by each soldier, allows effective training for opposing parties. The simulation systems are also used at the squad / platoon level, through the VBS (Virtual Battle Space) system, which reproduces tactical situations of operations and combat in an extremely realistic way.

With the realization of the skill house of the 9th Alpini Regiment, the “Taurinense” brigade adds a further step to its ability to independently train its soldiers, consequently reducing costs and logistical problems.
