This afternoon, General Enzo Vecciarelli, Chief of Defense Staff, was received at the Army Staff by Corps General Pietro Serino.
After the rendering of military honors in front of the Memorial for the Fallen, in the courtyard of honor, the head of SMD wanted to pay a heartfelt tribute to the Army War Flag and, subsequently, met with a representative of Armed Force personnel at the Central Military Library.
The visit by the senior defense officer is part of the broader scope of institutional meetings in which he will participate in anticipation of the termination of his post as chief of staff.
During his farewell greeting to the EMS personnel, General Vecciarelli thanked all the Army soldiers, highlighting the professionalism and intellectual dynamism that characterizes the Armed Force and that derives from the experience in the field, always looking to the future, towards a new dimension and further successes.
The visit of the head of SMD "Shows a closeness that makes us proud" - General Serino said - "And testifies how, today more than ever, the Defense sector is and must be a cohesive and close-knit team, which works synergistically together to carry out its institutional tasks and for the good of the Republic".
The head of SME further concluded - "I want to thank you for your leadership and for what you have been able to give to the Defense, with the pragmatic concreteness of a pilot and with the solid competence of a far-sighted commander, firm in his decisions but always attentive to the human and relational component".
