The visit to Verona of the Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello, took place this morning.
The activity in the Verona city began at the pavilions of the Verona Fair where he met the men and women of the Army, who are participating in the "LetExpo 2024": the largest fair for sustainable transport and logistics, which integrated a wide exhibition of defense vehicles and assets.
Here, he also had the opportunity to connect with the Catamaran “The Spirit of Stella” of the WOW project, a World Tour in favor of soldiers who have become disabled in service, belonging to the Armed Forces of all the countries of the world who have been engaged in peace and stability maintenance missions, athletes of the Defense Paralympic Sports Team – GSPD and the counterparts of the Foreign Armed Forces.
Afterwards, welcomed by the commander of the ground operational support forces, Army Corps General Massimo Scala, the head of SME went to Palazzo Carli, the historic headquarters of the command, where he was updated on the operational capabilities of the commands and the dependent specialist units, on the training objectives, on the future commitments to the abroad and on the role that the Support COMFOTER plays in the training process of the VFI-Ts with their specialization schools.
Subsequently, General Masiello met with representatives of all categories of staff of the command and command department gathered in the hall of honor, to whom, after having highlighted the importance of continuing to operate inspired by the founding values that animate the oath of loyalty to the Republic, outlined the main directions towards which efforts should be channeled in the pursuit of an organised, modern and united Army, safeguarding the peculiarities of each of its individual components.
From the command of ground operational support forces the engineering command, the artillery command, the anti-aircraft artillery command, the transmission command and the tactical information brigade command depend on it, which guarantee the protection and support functions of the maneuver forces.
