General Graziano rewards alpine athletes

Today, at the Alpine training center, the award ceremony was held for the athletes of the "winter sports" section of the army sports center who distinguished themselves during their career and during the 2013-2014 season.

The Chief of Staff of the Army, General Claudio Graziano, personally awarded six athletes and handed the Army Silver Cross to the chosen corporal Giuliano Razzoli, a slalom specialist alpine skier, who achieved important results and thanks to his sporting merits, he contributed to enhance the prestige and image of the armed force in Italy and in the world.

General Graziano, during his speech, in recalling "the importance of sporting activity in the life of every soldier" underlined that "the values ​​of sport, such as commitment, sacrifice, competition, respect, are the same that characterize whole army and are, therefore, the common heritage of every military ".

The army chief of staff finally thanked "the athletes, technicians and all the staff of the army sports center for the excellent results achieved" inviting them to "continue on the same path".

The Olympic Sports Center of the Army, in over 70 years of history, has achieved numerous national and international successes: 17 medals at the Olympic Games, 26 world titles, 216 podiums in World Cup competitions, 10 absolute World Cups , 97 podiums in the European Cup, 13 European titles, over 140 Italian titles.
